Further to the IOC Executive Board decision of 5 December 2017 with regards to the Russian participation at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, and further to some initial follow-up discussions with the IOC and the other International Winter Sports Federations (IFs), the ISU acknowledged that the IOC is currently preparing all operational details relating to the participation of the Olympic Athletes of Russia (OAR) which will be communicated as soon as available.

The ISU also confirms that in line with the decision of other Winter IFs, the ISU European Speed Skating Championships in Kolomna and the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Moscow, will both be organized and held in January 2018 as planned. The ISU anti-doping testing for these Championships will be carried out by international (not Russian) independent sample collection authorities with the analysis of the samples carried out at WADA accredited laboratories outside Russia. 

With regard to the IOC Disciplinary Commission decisions to sanction the Russian Speed Skaters Olga Fatkulina and Alexander Rumyantsev for anti-doping rule violations during the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and the related ISU follow-up action, the ISU refers to its statements dated ISU Statement - IOC’s decision on Russia of December 6, and ISU Statement - IOC sanctions Russian Speed Skaters of November 24, 2017
