For more than 25 years Albert has been committed and connected to the beautiful sport of skating in all of its disciplines. Among other positions he has been Chairman of the Technical Commission, Speed Skating in the province of Friesland (NED), Chairman of a skating club with 500 members, a board member of the Speed Skating section of the Royal Dutch Skating Federation (KNSB) and Vice President of the Council of the KNSB.

Albert was a member of the ISU Disciplinary Commission between 2016 and 2022, using his sport and legal knowledge to review and decide on disputes and cases.

Albert studied for an MA in History, followed by an LLM in Civil and Penal Law at the University of Groningen (Netherlands), and was awarded an MBA of the University of Nijenrode (Netherlands) and Rochester (USA).

Albert is currently the CEO of the Central Judicial Collection Agency (a national organization of the Netherlands Department of Justice) and an honorary public prosecutor.

He is married to Pauline Hazelhoff. They have three children, two daughters and one son.
