The ISU issues strict requirements for Helmets manufacturers for Speed Skating and Short Track Speed Skating regarding the safety and approved labels and tags.
The ISU recently learned that certain brands of helmets sold on the market for use in relation to Speed Skating and/or Short Track Speed Skating bear tags and are distributed with publicity in booklets, websites or elsewhere, implying that these helmets have been approved or tested or are sold with the approval of the ISU.
Such representations are incompatible with fair trade practice laws, unfair competition and trademark legislations and thus illegal and must be removed from all helmets and from other communications regarding the properties of such helmets.The ISU does not currently have a procedure to approve, test or otherwise examine helmets to verify their safety or compliance with standards, including the ISU requirements.
The ISU reserves the right to take action against any such distributor or reseller to preserve its rights.
