Celje / Slovenia

Celje, Slovenia was the site of an ISU Development Program supported Single Figure Skating Training Camp for Juniors and Novices from July 23 – August 4, 2018. A Coaches Seminar complemented the Skater camp and both were aimed at Skaters and Coaches from the East and Middle European Region.

59 Skaters from Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Georgia, Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia took part in the Camp where they had opportunities to practice on- and off-ice several times a day and to learn new techniques, benefiting from working with more experienced and qualified coaches and getting more feedback on their skating. With input and help from the moderators the Skaters worked to enhance their choreography, presentation and skating skills and improve their fitness and skating levels.

Particular successes of the project were the significant improvements in variable steps and difficult entries into spins and jumps and the introduction of innovative off-ice training methods. This hard work and positive input has helped to prepare the participating young Skaters for their upcoming competitions as the 2018/19 season commences.
