Lausanne, Switzerland

The Development Commission supported a Pair Skating camp took place from July 2-7, 2018 in Engelberg/Switzerland. Five participating Couples represented four ISU members (Germany, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic). In addition to the four Senior Couples there was also one Junior Couple (from Germany).

One of the major goals was to host a regular Pair Skating camp in central Europe in order to develop levels and skills at international Novice, Junior and Senior level as well as checking programs and program elements. Last but not least the camp aimed to improve the Skating skills and physical condition of all participants.

The daily activities contained of:

- 2 – 3 sessions ice (divided into technical practice and Skating skills)

- 1 session body workout

- 1 session lift class

- guided warm up sessions before every ice session

- guided stretching sessions to recover at the end of the day

The camp enabled the Junior Couple to prepare for their first competition at the end of August. In particular there was a review of the elements to make sure they were being executed according to the ISU rules and even though the program and all elements were already set, some small details were added to achive higher marks in competition.

As for the Senior Couples, they were able to work on their elements to get them ready for the next step of preparation – which is to skate programs with those elements.

All of them left the camp with a full set of elements and also a framework for programs for them to work on and develop.
