Safeguarding in Practice Part 2

Safeguarding in Practice Part 2

13 Mar 2024

 #ISUDevelopment

The most important element in sport is the people involved and the International Skating Union (ISU) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all those in the Skating family. Following the Course 1 on Safeguarding Essentials published last year, the ISU is now pleased to announce the launch of Course 2 “Safeguarding in Practice” eLearning course that can be found on the ISU eRink platform.

‘Safeguarding in Practice” is for everyone in sport wishing to develop a deeper understanding of safeguarding in practice.

This course is free of charge and available to all. The ISU encourages ISU Members to ask their staff to complete the 90-minute module and to share it with their clubs, coaches, and other interested parties.

French and Spanish versions of the Safeguarding Course will be available in the near future.

To access ‘Safeguarding in Practice’,  log in to your ISU eRink account. You will then simply need to create an Open University account in order to follow the course.  We advise that you take the Safeguarding Essentials course first.

The last course of this 3-series course with more detailed information about safeguarding and setting up effective policies will be available in 2024/25:

Effective Safeguarding: 12-hour course to provide people with specific safeguarding

responsibilities with knowledge and insight to help them be effective in their role.

The content for these courses was originally developed by FIFA and has been revised with the help of UNICEF and the Open University (GBR) to suit a more general sport audience with support from the ISU, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), the International Tennis Federation (ITF), World Athletics, World Rugby, World Netball, the International Platform on Sport and Development, the Australian Government (Team Up), and the Commonwealth Games Federation.
