In its endeavour to innovate and elevate Short Track Speed Skating sports globally, the International Skating Union (ISU) is thrilled to announce the conclusion of a sponsorship agreement with the Chinese National Sports Group (CNSG), a leading actor in China’s sports industry. This three-year partnership, which has also been officially recognized by the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC), is set to deliver exciting promotion and development opportunities for the upcoming season’s Short Track World Championships events up to 2027.

This partnership sets the stage for a new era of cooperation and growth in the world of Short Track, a sport that enjoys tremendous popularity in China. By joining forces with the CNSG’s extensive reach and expertise, the ISU is confident that this collaboration will further enhance visibility and passion for the sport, while deepening connections with the fans’ community, in China and worldwide.

As part of the agreement, the CNSG will be providing sponsorship initiatives and organizational support to the ISU Four Continents Short Track Championships, the World Junior Short Track Championships as well as the flagship ISU World Short Track Championships, playing a crucial role in bolstering Short Track’s presence in China and all over the world.

The ISU President, Jae Youl Kim, expressed great enthusiasm about the newly formed partnership, stating: "We are excited to have entered into this agreement with the Chinese National Sports Group. This collaboration is a testament to our shared commitment to enhance sports excellence and Short Track growth around the world. Not only greater global exposure and cultural exchanges will be fostered by this new partnership, but also unique opportunities for younger generations of skaters to unlock their potential and shine on the international scene."

President of COC, Mr. GAO Zhidan, equally demonstrates full support: “The Chinese Olympic Committee firmly supports sports development in China. This cooperation between CNSG and ISU reflects our dedication to enhancing the profile of winter sports in the country and carrying on the rich legacy of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games!”.

Moreover, ISU Director General Colin Smith underscores the promising changes ahead for Short Track as from season 2024/2025: “The debut of CNSG’s sponsorship agreement will coincide with the launch of the Short Track World Tour, that encapsulates the six existing World Cup Short Track Series and packages them into a new dynamic, entertaining and bold event format. The collaboration with the CNSG therefore perfectly aligns with ISU’s goals to upgrade the spectators’ experience, increase fans engagement as well as bring a fresh and innovative dimension to the sport.”

The Chairman of CNSG, Mr. Gu Haoning, shares Mr. Smith’s excitement: “CNSG, being the pioneer of Chinese sports industry, is excited about the partnership with the ISU. We are committed to explore further the potential of Short Track Speed Skating and winter sports in China and beyond.”
