Ready to celebrate ice-skating all around the world? The International Skating Union (ISU) is excited to announce the return of the World Ice Skating Day (WISD) on December 14, 2025, with simultaneous activities taking place all around the world.

Ice rinks and clubs all over the world open their doors to offer a wide range of entertaining free activities to share their passion for the sports and create a memorable experience on the ice. Are you ready to join the celebration? Grab your friends, get your skates on and join us on the ice!

Find your nearest WISD event 

Head to the Event Locator on the WISD website and look for the closest participating ice rink or Skating Club to you. Feel free to contact your local ice rink if you don’t see them in the list yet, or email us on development@isu.org with their contact details – we’ll give them a push to get involved!

Join us on social media and win tickets to ISU Events

Our social media campaign is live now, join us by posting your own WISD content between now and December 15, 12:00 PM (noon) CET, and win tickets to ISU Events in 2026!*

To make participation easy, we’ve prepared some ideas that you can use to prepare your own content. Please make sure to tag our social media accounts and use the campaign hashtags (shown below) when you post them!

• Show us a fun moment on the ice, or a new skill you recently learned – it can be snapshots or a short video
• Show us your best ice-skating buddies that you’re celebrating with
• Did you take a newbie to try out ice-skating this World Ice Skating Day? Snap some quick shots of their first moments on the ice!
• If you are feeling inspired, you can make a short video and tell / show us why you think ice-skating is the best sport there is!

By posting your content and completing the “Join a WISD event” form on the World Ice Skating Day website (on the Event Locator page) you have the chance to be entered into a draw to win tickets to 13 ISU Events!*

Don’t worry if you don’t see your local rink – you can skate anywhere and select the ISU Virtual WISD event to participate!

ISU App campaign

Following the events on December 14, photos will be provided from each location and made available to the local participants via the ISU App, just like for competitive skaters after the competitions!

All you need to do to have your photos featured is to tick the relevant section when you’re completing the “Join a WISD event” form! Once you’re on the ice, look for the person wearing the photographer bib taking pictures and strike your best poses!

Photos will be made available in the weeks following WISD, and the feature in the ISU App will be available until mid-February.**
