    Ning Zhongyan (CHN) is gearing up well for the Olympic Games on home ice in February. The 22-year-old Chinese middle-distance specialist won his career-second ISU World Cup Speed Skating gold in the Men’s 1500m in Stavanger on Sunday. Tatsuya Shinhama (JPN) won his second 500m race of the new World Cup season on a successful day for Japanese Speed Skating. Nao Kodaira (JPN) and Miho Takagi (JPN) won the Women’s 500m and 1500m respectively to make it three gold medals for Japan on Sunday. Kodaira completed the medal set in Stavanger, having won 1000m bronze on Friday and 500m silver on Saturday.

    Nils van der Poel (SWE) showed his best form to win the Men’s 10,000m on day two of the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Stavanger, Norway, while in the Women’s competition, Erin Jackson (USA) won her third gold medal in a row, taking the 500m on another day of high drama in Stavanger. Laurent Dubreuil (CAN) won the Men’s 500m and China took Team Sprint gold.
