Yuko Kavaguti/Alexander Smirnov of Russia struck gold and led a Russian sweep in the Pairs event. Ksenia Stolbova/Fedor Klimov settled for the silver medal and Evgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov moved up from fifth to earn the bronze medal

Russia’s Ksenia Stolbova/Fedor Klimov took the lead in the Pairs Short Program ahead of teammates Yuko Kavaguti/Alexander Smirnov. Vanessa James/Morgan Cipres of France came third.

Javier Fernandez of Spain claimed his third European title while Russia’s Maxim Kovtun and Sergei Voronov took the silver and bronze medals.

Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron of France took the European Ice Dance crown. Italians Anna Cappellini/Luca Lanotte claimed the silver medal and Russia’s Alexandra Stepanova/Ivan Bukin captured the bronze in their debut at the event

Elena Radionova led a Russian sweep in the Ladies Short Program, followed by her teammates Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and Anna Pogorilaya.

Spain’s Javier Fernandez took the first step to defending his European title by winning the Men’s Short Program. Sergei Voronov of Russia sits in second followed by Michal Brezina of the Czech Republic.

The 2015 ISU European Figure Skating Championships will open in Stockholm, Sweden, on January 28. The ISU European Figure Skating Championships return to Stockholm for the second time in history after 1912.

The competition at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final concluded Saturday with the Pairs, Ladies and Men’s Free Skating and the Free Dance.
