Two-time Olympic Champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan soared to a confident lead in the Men’s Short Program at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Seoul (KOR) on Friday, setting a record score en route. China’s Boyang Jin came second followed by Jason Brown (USA) in what was a high-level competition.

Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA) defended their ISU Four Continents Championships title as the event continued Friday in Seoul (KOR). Canada’s Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier moved up one spot to take the silver medal while overnight leaders Madison Hubbell/Zachary Donohue (USA) settled for the bronze.

Seoul has hosted the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships once before in 2015.

Alena Kostornaia led the Russian “triple A team” to another podium sweep as competition wrapped up at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Graz (AUT) on Saturday. Anna Shcherbakova claimed the silver and the bronze went to Alexandra Trusova. All three competed in their first senior-level ISU Championships.

Russia’s World silver medalists Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov upset five-time and defending European Champions Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron of France to take their first European title at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Graz (AUT) on Saturday. Alexandra Stepanova/Ivan Bukin, also from Russia, claimed the bronze, their fourth European medal.

Evgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov moved up to take the silver, their sixth consecutive medal at Europeans. Daria Pavliuchenko/Denis Khodykin claimed their first medal, the bronze.

Dmitri Aliev of Russia stormed to gold with 26 points to spare to take the first European title for a Russian man since 2012. 16-year-old Artur Danielian, the youngest competitor in the Men’s event, made it one-two for Russia by clinching silver. Morisi Kvitelashvili earned the bronze, becoming the first Georgian man to win a medal at the European Figure Skating Championships.
