The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2019/20 features talented junior skaters from all over the world and provides young skaters aged 13 to 19 (21 for the male ice dance and pair skating partners) with the opportunity to compete at a high international level. The 2019/20 season marks the 23rd edition of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating that was introduced in 1997.

Every season the ISU invites its Members to send applications to host events as part of the Challenger Series. For the season 2019/20 two applications from Asia were received, Taipei and Hong Kong, to host an event as part of the Series. During its meeting last March, the ISU Council decided to include the event proposed by the Chinese Taipei Skating Union to be held in Taipei City mostly due to more suitable dates.

Russia’s Evgenia Medvedeva is only 19 years old, but her career already is a story good enough for two skaters. Instant success at the senior level and two ISU World Figure Skating titles were followed by injury, disappointment, a hotly discussed move to Canada and a difficult post-Olympic year. Evgenia ended the season with a personal victory by returning on to the ISU World Figure Skating podium in Saitama, Japan, in March 2019 which gave her confidence for the future.

Who would have guessed that a kids’ birthday party would lead Vincent Zhou (USA) into a successful figure skating career. When he was around five and a half, Vincent attended the party of a friend at a local ice rink. He had so much fun that his mother decided to register him for group lessons.

The series also features accomplished veterans, crowd favorites as well as the next generation of up and coming Skaters.

The ISU Council decided to provisionally allot the following ISU Championships for the seasons 2020/21 and 2021/22. The allotments of all other Championships are kept pending until the next scheduled ISU Council meeting in October 2019 and further information regarding the decisions of the Council in Rome, will be published at a later date.
