Rika Kihira of Japan skated off with the gold in an eventful Ladies’ Free Skating at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2019 in Anaheim (USA) with the standings turning upside down. Kazakhstan’s Elizabet Tursynbaeva pulled up from sixth to claim the silver and Mai Mihara of Japan surged from eighth to snatch the bronze medal.

World silver medalists Madison Hubbell/Zachary Donohue (USA) captured the Rhythm Dance at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2019 in Anaheim (USA) on Friday. Teammates Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA) and Canada’s 2018 World bronze medalists Kaitlyn Weaver/Andrew Poje follow closely in second and third place respectively.

Canadian Champions Kirsten Moore-Towers/Michael Marinaro edged Olympic silver medalists Wenjing Sui/Cong Han of China for a narrow lead in the Pairs Short Program at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2019 in Anaheim (USA) on Friday. Cheng Peng/Yang Jin, also from China, came third.

Today Douwe de Vries from the Netherlands was elected to the ISU Athletes Commission as the Speed Skating representative.

Following the ISU European Figure Skating Championships the focus now shifts this week to the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships with most of the non-European top skaters competing in Anaheim, USA (February 5-10). Anaheim will host an ISU Figure Skating Championship for the first time.

Rika Kihira, 16, made a splash this season. The Japanese teenager is skating to “Beautiful Storm” in her Free Skating, and she took the senior level by storm, too, taking gold at her two ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events and the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final.

The first edition of the ISU Four Continents Speed Skating Championships and ISU Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships have been allotted by the ISU Council.

The ISU noted the reports of abuse and harassment by at least one Korean Coach on Korean Short Track Skaters. The ISU condemns any kind of abuse and harassment on ISU participants and encourages the Korean authorities in their continuation of their investigations and related court decision severely punishing the convicted offenders.

 France’s Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron danced to their fifth consecutive title with 11 points to spare as the Ice Dance event concluded at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Minsk (BLR) on Saturday. Alexandra Stepanova/Ivan Bukin of Russia danced to the silver medal while Italians Charlene Guignard/ Marco Fabbri claimed the bronze, their first medal at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships.

Spain’s Javier Fernandez celebrated a golden farewell in his last competition, taking his seventh consecutive European title as the ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2019 continued in Minsk (BLR) on Saturday with a dramatic Men’s Final. Russian Alexander Samarin claimed the silver medal and Matteo Rizzo of Italy surged from tenth to take the bronze, the first European medal for an Italian man in ten years.
