Olympic and ISU World Figure Skating Champions as well as exciting newcomers highlighted the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series 2019/20 with their amazing performances.

The rising stars are about to take part in the Youth Olympic Games that will take place from January 9 – 22, 2020.

The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating series 2019/20 with its eight events including the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating was full of exciting moments. The best of the best – the top six in each discipline - advanced to the Final in Torino in December. Historic moments and amazing performances highlighted the series. Let’s have a look back.

The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) showcase the stars of tomorrow and quite a few successful Figure Skaters from the first two editions of the event in 2012 and 2016 rose to prominence.

As the festive season approaches and another year draws to an end, it is an opportunity to reflect on 2019 and look to the future and what 2020 will bring.

The Biellmann spin is one of the best known spins in figure skating – and the only one named after a person. It is an upright spin, a variation of the layback spin. While spinning on one leg, the skater pulls the other leg up and holds the foot extended over and behind the head. By ISU rules, the spin is a Biellmann, when "the level of the boot passes the head so that the boot is above and behind or over the head”. There are various degrees of extension of the free leg.

Olympic and World Champion Alina Zagitova (RUS) will take a break from competing and will not participate in the ISU European and World Figure Skating Championships this season, but has not retired.

The young talent of Figure Skating competed this weekend in the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. Have a look at the extraordinary perfomances thanks to the highlights.

The ISU acknowledges the December 9, 2019 decision of the WADA Executive Committee unanimously endorsing a four year period of non-compliance for the Russian Anti-Doping Agency and related consequences.

The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final came to an end this weekend in Torino (ITA). We are left with some great memories and stunning moments captured. Have a look at some of the best images. 

Alena Kostornaia of Russia continued to set new records on her way to the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final gold medal and led her teammates Anna Shcherbakova  and Alexandra Trusova to a first clean sweep in the Ladies discipline in the senior-level Final. Trusova became the first female skater to land a quadruple flip in competition.

Four-time World Champions Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron of France claimed their second ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final crown. Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA) returned to the Grand Prix Final podium to claim their third silver medal in this event. The bronze went to 2019 ISU Grand Prix Final Champions Madison Hubbell/Zachary Donohue (USA).
