Russia’s reigning World Champions Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov added the European title to their collection with another perfect skate at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships Thursday in Tallinn. Silver medalists Evgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov and bronze medalists Aleksandra Boikova/Dmitri Kozlovskii completed the 15th Russian podium sweep in Pair Skating at the ISU European Championships.

Mishina/Galliamov delivered an excellent performance to “Snowstorm” and “Time, Forward” by Georgi Sviridov that was highlighted by a triple Salchow-Euler-triple Salchow combination, a triple twist, throw triple flip and loop as well as a triple toe and level-four lifts. The World Champions set a new highest score with 157.46 points and totaled 239.82 points, another record score.

“I am always listening to the scores of the competitors, not on purpose, but it happens that way, and so I knew that if we skate clean the result will come. The preparation was a bit different today. I went out today really calm, too calm and because of that I started to get nervous,” Mishina said.

“We skated well and we were able to overcome all problems that we encountered here and in practice. I am not feeling too great, I was cold in my room, but that does not play any role and does not stop us to skate at the highest level,” Galliamov shared.

Skating to “Lighthouse” by Patrick Watson, Tarasova/Morozov produced a triple twist, triple toe-double toe-double toe, throw triple flip and loop. Their lifts, death spiral and pair combo spin all merited a level four. The two-time European Champions netted 154.85 points, a personal best score for them, which added up to 236.43 points overall. The couple from Moscow took their seventh consecutive medal at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships.

“We are happy with today’s skate. We skated probably for our own pleasure once all the elements were over. We know that the other teams skated well before us but we didn’t watch, we focused on ourselves and our program. It was really good for us, but not yet the best we can do,” Morozov told the press.Aleksandra BOIKOVA Dmitrii KOZLOVSKII RUS FSEFSC 2022 ©International Skatin Union 1237706995

Boikova/Kozlvoskii opened their dynamic performance to “Malaguena” with a solid side by side triple Salchow – the jump that had eluded them in the Short Program – and went on to complete a triple-toe double-toe double-toe combination, excellent triple throws and interesting lifts. The 2020 European Champions scored a seasons best of 150.97 points and accumulated 227.23 points overall to take their third consecutive medal at the European Championships.

“The most important thing is that despite the frustration and inner dissatisfaction we felt yesterday, we managed to put all the emotions aside and put together a clean, decent skate today,” Kozlvoskii noted. “Today we are satisfied with ourselves. A small mistake did not affect the scores and the level of presentation of our program in any way. It was not easy to switch off (after the Short Program), to get ready, but today we managed to do it,” he continued.

Karina Safina/Luka Berulava (GEO) turned in a strong performance to move up from sixth to fourth place in their championship debut at 184.05 points. Rebecca Ghilardi/Filippo Ambrosini (ITA) slipped from fourth to fifth on 178.90 points while Ioulia Chtchetinina/Mark Magyar (HUN) came sixth (171.03 points).
