The planet’s greatest Short Track Speed Skaters get together to kick off the 25th ISU World Cup Short Track Series,  at the Maurice-Richard arena, Montreal (CAN) from 28 to 30 October.

Corinne Stoddard is a woman on a mission. The 21-year-old from Seattle (USA) is one of the best inline skaters around – she was 10km Junior World Champion in 2020 –  but began to focus on Short Track from 2018 because she wanted to become an Olympian, a feat she achieved at Beijing 2022.

Reigning World Champion Shoma Uno (JPN), along with two-time ISU Four Continents Champion Rika Kihira (JPN) and World Ice Dance medalists Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier (CAN) lead the line up at the second ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating event Skate Canada International this week in Mississauga (CAN).

The new Short Track Speed Skating season gets under way this month, with the first of six ISU World Cup events taking place in Montreal, Canada, from 28-30 October, 2022.

World records have tumbled in Short Track Speed Skating over the past two decades. Canada dominated early in the Men’s field before an Asian charge in the past decade, while Republic of Korea and China have dominated the Women’s fastest times. But some Canadian and Dutch greats have hit back over the past few years.
