The famous Hamar Vikingskipet, home of the 1994 Olympic Speed Skating, will host the first combined ISU World Sprint & World Allround Speed Skating Championships in Speed Skating history this weekend. Previously the Allround and Sprint Championships were held separately. Last year Patrick Roest (NED) and Martina Sáblíková (CZE) won the ISU World Allround Speed Skating titles in Calgary, while Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) and Nao Kodaira (JPN) took the ISU World Sprint Speed Skating titles in Heerenveen. All four champions will be present in Hamar to defend their titles. The Sprint Championships are on Friday and Saturday and the Allround tournaments on Saturday and Sunday.

The ISU Speed Skating Championships in Hamar (NOR), taking place from February 28 – March 1, promises to be another exhilarating event. For Keegan Messing, one of his happiest days and one of his saddest days in his life were just a few weeks apart. On August 3, the Canadian skater married his long-time girlfriend Lane Hodson in his home in Alaska. On September 22, he lost his beloved younger brother Paxon. Paxon, 26, died in a motorcycle accident in Alaska. He left a wife and three young children behind.

Femke Kok and Robin Groot led a Dutch golden sweep across all seven Ladies' events at the ISU Junior World Speed Skating Championships in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Poland, last weekend. Kok won the 500m, the 1000m and retained the Allround title, while Groot collected the 1500m, 3000m and Mass Start gold. Groot also played a part in the Team Pursuit victory, while Kok was instrumental in both the Team Pursuit and the Team Sprint gold.

You can say that high-level Figure Skating came to Korea with Yuna Kim, who took the scene by storm when she emerged out of nowhere on the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating series back in 2004. The 2010 Olympic Champion was the trailblazer for the sport in the country and has inspired many young Korean Figure Skaters to follow in her impressive footsteps. One of them is Young You, who was born in the year Kim started her international career.

Femke Kok (NED) and Chung Jae Won (KOR) will defend their Ladies' and Men's ISU World Junior Speed Skating titles in Tomaszów Mazowiecki this weekend. The reigning champions skipped last week's ISU Junior World Cup Speed Skating Final to skate at the Senior ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Champions in Salt Lake City. At last year's ISU World Junior Speed Skating Championships in in Baselga di Piné (iTA), the Netherlands led the medal table in the Ladies events and the Republic of Korea in the Men's.

The ISU World Junior Speed Skating Championships 2020 in Tomaszów Mazowiecki (POL), take place from February 21 – 23. Don’t miss any of the action from the season’s rising stars. The International Skating Union (ISU), Skate Canada and Art on Ice are pleased to announce that Elvis Stojko and Anouk Meunier will be hosting the inaugural ISU Skating Awards. The ISU Skating Awards will take place at the conclusion of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2020 in Montreal, Quebec, at Centre Bell on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 16:00.
