The International Skating Union (ISU) is proud to reaffirm its continuous commitment to the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP), a United Nations initiative promoting sport as a vector for peace and social change. Since its launch by the United Nations in 2013, this movement celebrates its 10th anniversary today. The ISU participates in the initiative for the sixth year via the #WhiteCard campaign and invites the ice skating community to join and share a symbolic message of peace.

To mark this special 10th anniversary edition of the International Day of Sport and for Development and Peace (IDSDP), the ISU is delighted to demonstrate once again its firm support to the cause of creating sustainable peace through the powerful catalyst of sport. Today, the ISU President, Jae Youl Kim, together with athletes from all ice skating disciplines raise a #WhiteCard, as a gesture of inclusion, equality and peace – by contrast to the red card that stands for the most serious offense in sport.

Through its multiple projects and programs devised to create a more inclusive and equitable ice skating community, the ISU shares a close vision and values with the IDSDP, as emphasized by the ISU President, Jae Youl Kim: “The ISU strongly believes that sport is an effective vehicle to build a culture of peace, and has been proudly taking part in the #WhiteCard campaign for the past years. Sport has the power to bring diverse people together to share dialogues, solidarity and passion. With this in mind, the ISU has invested in continuous efforts to leverage those values across its events and projects to create greater inclusiveness and unity within the ice skating world. Today, it is with conviction and honor that we raise our #WhiteCard for a better and more sustainable future”.
