The ISU was informed of the cancellation of the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating events scheduled to be held in Bietigheim-Bissingen from February 19 – 21, 2021 and in Dresden from February 26 – 28, 2021.

Reigning ISU World Junior silver medalist Yuma Kagiyama of Japan took the lead in the Men’s Short Program in his senior-level ISU Grand Prix debut at NHK Trophy in Osaka (JPN) on Friday. Japan’s Kazuki Tomono placed second ahead of another Japanese newcomer, Lucas Tsuyoshi Honda.

Japanese Champions Misato Komatsubara/Tim Koleto danced to a strong lead in the Rhythm Dance at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating NHK Trohpy in Osaka (JPN) Friday. The new team of Kana Muramoto/Daisuke Takahashi (JPN) edged Rikako Fukase/Eichu Cho(JPN) for second place.

Top seed Kaori Sakamoto of Japan cruised to the lead in the Ladies Short Program at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating NHK Trophy in Osaka (JPN) on Friday. 2018 ISU World silver medalist Wakaba Higuchi of Japan came second and compatriot  Mako Yamashita follows in third.

There is a simple reason why Italy continues to defy the odds and capture Short Track Speed Skating medals on the biggest sporting stage of them all. It is all down to team culture, according to veteran skater Tommaso Dotti.

Viewers will be able to watch the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series either via their national broadcaster / channel and for countries where there are no broadcasters, the ISU will offer a live stream on the Skating ISU YouTube Channel.

Exciting competition and debuts await the Skating world at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating NHK Trophy from November 27-29, in Osaka (JPN). The field is headlined by 2020 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating bronze medalist Yuma Kagiyama (JPN), ISU Four Continents Figure Skating silver medalist Young You (KOR) and 2018 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Champion Kaori Sakamoto (JPN). 2010 ISU World Figure Skating Champion Daisuke Takahashi will give his debut as an Ice Dancer in the team Kana Muramoto/Daisuke Takahashi (JPN).

The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Rostelecom Cup was a true highlight of this unusual skating season, full of spectacular performances in a thrilling, high-level competition. Russian Skaters dominated as expected as only few international competitors were able to take part.

The ISU Council reviewed the status of the ongoing skating season 2020/21 considering the worsening world-wide pandemic developments and its impact on organizing and participating ISU Members.

Russia’s 2015 World Champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, nicknamed “The Empress” by her fans, reigned supreme in the Ladies Free Skating at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Rostelecom Cup Saturday in Moscow to take the title in a thrilling final. Reigning ISU European Champion Alena Kostornaia (RUS) had to settle for the silver medal this time while Anastasiia Guliakova (RUS) captured the bronze on her Grand Prix debut. 

ISU European Champions Aleksandra Boikova/Dmitrii Kozlovskii of Russia ruled in the Pairs Free Skating to take their second consecutive Rostelecom Cup title at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Moscow on Saturday. Compatriots Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov slipped to second while Apollinariia Panfilova/Dmitry Rylov, also of Russia, secured the bronze on their senior-level Grand Prix debut. 

ISU European Champions Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov of Russia won gold for the second successive year at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Rostelecom Cup Saturday in Moscow. Tiffani Zagorski/Jonathan Guerreiro (RUS) finished runners-up to claim the third Grand Prix medal of their career, while Anastasia Skoptcova/Kirill Aleshin (RUS) climbed the senior Grand Prix podium for the first time to take bronze. 

Russia’s Mikhail Kolyada celebrated a golden comeback at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Rostelecom Cup Saturday in Moscow, taking the second Grand Prix title of his career after missing the past season due to health issues. Morisi Kvitelashvili of Georgia claimed his second Grand Prix silver medal, while Petr Gumennik of Russia earned the bronze on his senior Grand Prix debut.
