Young Figure Skating Talents Ready to Shine as ISU Junior Grand Prix Series Kicks Off

Get ready to witness the next wave of Figure Skating stars dazzle on ice! The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2024/25 is just around the corner, kicking off from late August to mid-October across Europe and Asia, and available to watch on the ISU YouTube channel. Over 300 young talents are set to compete in seven thrilling events, all leading up to the Final in Grenoble, France, from December 5-8, 2024. Expect breathtaking performances, unexpected twists, and a sneak peek at the future champions of the sport. This season promises to be a whirlwind of spins, jumps, and unforgettable moments!

It is amazing to see what these talented youngsters bring on to the ice: quads and triple Axels, breathtaking lifts, dizzying spins, intricate footwork, expressive and artistic performances. Since 1997, the ISU Junior Grand Prix gives the next generation of Figure Skaters the opportunity to showcase their talent to the world.

The ISU Junior Grand Prix features up and coming wonderful athletes such as two-time ISU World Junior Champion Mao Shimada (JPN), three-time ISU World Junior silver medalist Jia Shin (KOR), ISU World Junior Champion Minkyu Seo (KOR), as well as the current ISU World Junior medalists Rena Uezono (JPN), Rio Nakata (JPN), Adam Hagara (SVK), Olivia Flores/Luke Wang (USA) and Darya Grimm/Michail Savitskiy (GER).

All these skaters have impressed the judges and audiences with their beautiful performances, their athletic abilities and skills in the past seasons. They are now coming back to present their programs and show how they improved after their hard training work in the past few months.

Meanwhile, new Junior hopefuls will debut on the circuit, eager to be discovered and with bright eyes full of ambition. The ISU Junior Grand Prix provides the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience and make a name for themselves on the international stage. Olympic and/or World Champions, such as Nathan Chen (USA), Wenjing Sui/Cong Han (CHN), Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron (FRA), Ilia Malinin (USA), Kaori Sakamoto (JPN), Deanna Stellato-Dudek/Maxime Deschamps (CAN) and Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA), all began their international careers on the Junior circuit.

The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating events will be live streamed on the official ISU YouTube channel in most countries. 

 

How do skaters qualify for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final?

Skaters compete in a maximum of two events and collect points. The top six Single Skaters, Pairs and Ice Dance Couples will then qualify for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Grenoble (FRA) December 5-8, 2024, where they will be competing for the final JGP title.

The Global Prize money per individual event of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating is US$ 22.500,00 (for events without Pair Skating US$ 15,740) which will be awarded to each medal winner for each category as follows:

Selection Criteria

More than 300 young Skaters from over 50 ISU Members are expected to compete in this year’s Series. Each ISU Member is entitled to enter competitors for the Series while the number of their entries depends on the results achieved at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2024.
