The ISU Development Commission is supporting the fourth year of the International Speed Skating development program based at the Utah Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City, UT.
The aims of the project are to increase elite participation in Speed Skating from ISU Members in the Americas and other parts of the world; to create a cost-efficient program for countries without access to ice and facilities to develop in the sport of Speed Skating; to create cooperative partnerships between international ice and inline communities; to provide Speed Skating Coaches education; and, to provide financial assistance for young (15-24 years old), talented Skaters who need support to cross over to ice.
The program will run from July 2019 to March 2020 and will utilize existing infrastructure and staff at the Utah Olympic Oval to provide a cost-efficient program that provides identified athletes with an on-ice training program and coaching based on athlete ability, a weight training program, a year round inline, ice training and competition plan and ice time. It will also develop top level Coaches from the Americas and provide mentoring and course work to teach ice coaching skills.
