Adam Siao Him Fa made France proud by winning the first ISU Grand Prix gold medal for a French man in 13 years, and he did so on home ice at the Grand Prix de France on Saturday in Angers (FRA). Japan’s Sota Yamamoto slipped to second place to take silver ahead of teammate Kazuki Tomono.   

 Two-time ISU European bronze medalists Charlene Guignard/Marco Fabbri of Italy danced to their first ISU Grand Prix gold medal at the Grand Prix de France in Angers (FRA) on Saturday – ten years after they first competed on the circuit. Canadians Laurence Fournier Beaudry/Nikolaj Soerensen claimed the silver medal and France’s Evgeniia Lopareva/Geoffrey Brissaud took the bronze, the first ISU Grand Prix medal of their career.  

World silver medalist Loena Hendrickx of Belgium celebrated her 23rd birthday in style by winning the first ISU Grand Prix gold medal for her country as the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating event Grand Prix de France continued Saturday in Angers (FRA). Korea’s Yelim Kim earned the silver while Rion Sumiyoshi from Japan rose from fifth to clinch the bronze.  

Deanna Stellato-Dudek/Maxime Deschamps of Canada grabbed a narrow lead in the Pairs Short Program over France’s Camille Kovalev/Pavel Kovalev. Karina Safina/Luka Berulava (GEO) finished third.    

Sota Yamamoto led the Japanese men to a one-two finish with his teammate Kazuki Tomono in the Men’s Short Program at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating’s Grand Prix de France. Adam Siao Him Fa of France currently sits in third place at the event, which opened on Friday in Angers (FRA).   

Two-time ISU European bronze medalists Charlene Guignard/Marco Fabbri of Italy came out on top in the Rhythm Dance, just edging Canadians Laurence Fournier Beaudry/Nikolaj Soerensen by a little over a point. France’s Evgeniia Lopareva/Geoffrey Brissaud  are currently ranked third.

The International Skating Union (ISU) is proud to announce Elladj Baldé as the Global Ambassador of the first-ever World Ice Skating Day (WISD), an annual festival celebrating Ice Skating all over the world through multiple events taking place simultaneously on December 4, 2022. This new worldwide ISU initiative strives to make ice skating an inclusive, accessible, and fun place by bringing together professional and amateur skaters regardless of any social, economic and cultural boundaries.

Sometimes winning in Short Track is about tactics, overtaking and handling chaos with a cool head. Sometimes it is about sheer speed. Suzanne Schulting (NED) can do it either way.

With the retirement of legendary skater Charles Hamelin (CAN) after the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, some might have feared that the only way was down for Canadian Short Track. They needn’t have worried.
