Canada’s Kim Boutin set the Utah Olympic Oval ice alight on the second day of finals at the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating on Sunday, becoming the first woman to break 42 seconds in the Ladies’ 500m.

Many of the athletes competing at this weekend’s ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating in Salt Lake City have travelled thousands of miles to be in Utah. Not so Maame Biney, who lives just 10 minutes up the street from Utah Olympic Oval.

France’s four-time World Champions Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron claimed their seventh Grand Prix series gold medal on Saturday at the Internationaux de France in Grenoble. Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA) took the silver medal and the bronze went to Italy’s Charlene Guignard/Marco Fabbri.

Two-time World Champion Nathan Chen (USA) struck gold at the Internationaux de France in Grenoble on Saturday and qualified for his fourth consecutive ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final with 30 points to spare. The silver medal went to Russia’s Alexander Samarin. To the delight of the home crowd, Kevin Aymoz of France claimed the bronze, his first Grand Prix medal. 

Daria Pavliuchenko/Denis Khodykin of Russia skated to the lead in the Pairs Short Program at the Internationaux de France in Grenoble on Friday. Teammates Anastasia Mishina/Alexander Galliamov took second place while Haven Denney/Brandon Frazier (USA) came third in the first part of the event.

Grand Prix debutant Alena Kostornaia of Russia grabbed a narrow lead over Olympic Champion and teammate Alina Zagitova in the Ladies Short Program at the Internationaux de France in Grenoble on Friday. Mariah Bell (USA) finished third.

Two-time World Champion and hot favorite Nathan Chen (USA) took the lead in the Men’s Short Program in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Grenoble, France on Friday. Russia’s Alexander Samarin currently sits in second followed by Kevin Aymoz of France.

The ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating season gets under way in Salt Lake City on 1 November, with some fascinating racing in store.

Olympic and World Champion Alina Zagitova (RUS) and World Ice Dance Champions Gabriella Papadakis/ Guillaume Cizeron (FRA) start their Grand Prix season at the Internationaux de France in Grenoble this week, the third stop of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series. World Champion Nathan Chen (USA) enters his second event and aims at sealing his spot in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Torino (ITA).
