It is with regret and sorrow that the ISU learned of the death of ISU Honorary Member, Mrs. Maria Bialous-Zuchowicz, who passed away on November 24, 2020 at the age of 90.

Maria started her career in Skating as a Figure Skater, actively competing until the 1950s. She then served as an ISU Judge and ISU Referee for Figure Skating at International Competitions, ISU Events, and at the Olympic Winter Games. Always passionate about the Sport, Maria contributed her professional skills and experience as a lawyer by serving as a member of the ISU Appeals Commission from 1988 to 1998, and as Chair of the ISU Appeals Commission from 1998 to 2004. She was also a member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport and served as Vice-President of the Polish Figure Skating Association until 2013.

In 2015, Maria was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (Order Odrodzenia Polski) for her outstanding achievements in the promotion and development of sport, and for her achievements for the Polish Olympic movement.

Maria will be remembered fondly for her dedication, passion and professionalism.
