Already dominant in individual events, South Korea’s Ladies Short Track skaters proved they were equally strong as a unit, skating to gold in the Ladies’ 3000-metre Relay Final.

Shim Suk Hee, Kim A Lang, Choi Min Jeong, and Kim Ye Jin (KOR) combined to finish ahead of the Netherlands, who claimed just their second medal of the weekend.

It’s also been a disappointing World Championship for Canada’s Ladies but the relay quartet of Valerie Maltais, Marianne St-Gelais, Kasandra Bradette and Kim Boutin made up for it somewhat by claiming bronze.

“I knew the crowd would be supportive regardless of the result and I felt that today,” St-Gelais said.

Canada skated out to an early lead, staying ahead of the pack for the first 10 laps. Korea followed behind before pulling ahead with 15 laps remaining, showing its dominance by widening the gap with each lap.

“I’m really happy for our team,” Shim said.
