Congress Seville

The 57th Ordinary ISU Congress opened on June 4, 2018 with a welcome message by the ISU President Mr. Jan Dijkema and a minute’s silence was held in memory of great friends of the ISU who are no longer with us.

The Congress put forward a motion to remove Urgent Proposal No. 5 from the Netherlands and Council Urgent Proposal No. 6 from the agenda. Neither Urgent Proposal reached the required 4/5 majority to keep them in the Agenda and were consequently removed.

Biennial reports by the ISU President, the ISU Coordinator of the Development Commission were presented. The Treasurer, Director General, Legal Advisors and Disciplinary Commission also presented their reports to the Congress.

The workshops for the Figure Skating and Speed Skating Branches started in the afternoon where each Technical Committee Chair explained the proposed Technical Rules of their respective discipline, followed by a discussion with the Delegates. The Technical Rules will be voted on during the Figure Skating and Speed Skating split sessions later in the week.

The session continued with the full Congress which voted on Proposals 1 to 21 and Urgent Matter No. 1. Proposals 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12 and 21 were withdrawn, Proposals: 2, 14 and 15 were rejected while the following Proposals were accepted: Urgent Matter No. 1, Proposals 3, 5, 9, 10, 13, 16, 17 (by secret vote) effective immediately, 18, 19, 20.
