The Liu brothers are two of Short Track’s undoubted superstars.

Shaolin and Shaoang (CHN) made history skating for Hungary – they have a Chinese father and a Hungarian mother – winning the nation’s first-ever Olympic Winter Games gold medal at PyeongChang 2018, as part of the victorious relay team.

Shaoang then became Hungary’s first Olympic Winter Games individual gold medal winner at Beijing 2022, in the 500m. He is also twice overall ISU World Champion. Both brothers have multiple World Championship and ISU World Cup medals.

Now skating for China after a year out of the sport, they couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming ISU World Cup in Beijing – where they are hugely famous – and for the seasons ahead.

What’s most special about them however isn’t just their racing ability. It is their charisma and togetherness: they’re two of the friendliest and funniest characters on the scene, but on the ice, they work together tirelessly to make sure that any medal they earn is for the Liu family – not just the individual.

In this film, they take us deep inside that extraordinary relationship – reveal what they’d be working as, if they weren’t the fastest men on ice, and tell us the story behind Shaolin’s trademark eyebrows…
