Legs, confidence and never giving up: Courtney Sarault is a skater on a mission

Courtney Sarault (CAN) is an athlete that feels on the verge of something special. The 23-year-old has been getting more competitive, season-on-season – and last year was only denied the ISU Crystal Globe by a superlative performance from Dutch great Suzanne Schulting (NED).

The New Brunswick racer, who is the daughter of a former NHL hockey player, has already got three World Championship silver medals in her collection – as well as three individual World Cup golds, two in the 1000m and one in the 1500m.

She’s extremely powerful and tactically sharp over those long distances – and is now trying to gather some points in the 500m to her armoury, too.

If she can do that, as Schulting has done over recent seasons, she will be a threat for overall titles for seasons to come – as well as for the World and Winter Olympic titles that all Short Trackers crave.

In our film, Sarault discusses what she’d have done if she wasn’t a skater, being bossy, and her skating style – which is all or nothing, thanks to some sage advice she got as a kid.

For fans of Canadian skating, an exciting few seasons ahead are guaranteed.
