The ISU submitted a request to include Speed Skating Mass Start and Synchronized Skating into the 2018 Olympic program. The International Olympic Committee Executive Board met on June 8, 2015 and confirmed that the ISU request to include Speed Skating Mass Start was approved, however Synchronized Skating was not.
The ISU will review these decisions in its upcoming Council meeting which will take place this week in Geneva (SUI).
