The media accreditations for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2021/21 series are now open.

Eight months, it turns out, is a long time in Figure Skating. Back in the middle of 2020 Laura Barquero and Marco Zandron were so far from performing at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games it barely registered on their radars.

Figure Skating is the most photogenic sport, trust us. Here are some wonderful still images from the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Ljubljana (SLO) this weekend. 

The remaining entries for the Single & Pair Skating and the Ice Dance competitions at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games (OWG) have been allocated according to Rule 400 A. paragraph 4, after the Nebelhorn Trophy, Olympic Qualifying Competition in Oberstdorf, Germany, held on September 22-25, 2021.

Russia celebrated a gold medal sweep at the fifth ISU Junior Grand Prix event in Ljubljana (SLO). Overall Russian skaters collected four out of nine medals, the USA got three while Canada and Estonia took home one medal each.

Twenty Skaters / Couples from 16 ISU Members earned the last remaining Olympic quota places for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games at the Challenger Series and Olympic Qualifying Event Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf (GER) this weekend. Seven spots for Men, six for Women, three for Pairs and four for Ice Dance were available.

The health and safety of all participants of the ISU events remains the number one priority for the International Skating Union (ISU).

The last Olympic quota places for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games – seven for Men, six for Women, three for Pairs and four for Ice Dance – will be assigned at the ISU Challenger Series and Olympic Qualifying Event Nebelhorn Trophy September 23-25 in Oberstdorf (GER).

Russian Skaters dominated at their home ISU Junior Grand Prix event in Krasnoyarsk, claiming 10 out of 12 medals. Russia's GlebLutfullin, Sofia Akatieva, Ekaterina Chikmareva/MatveiIanchenkov and Ice Dancers Irina Khavronina/Dario Cirisano all claimed their first ISU Junior Grand Prix gold medals and all of them except Lutfullin debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series. 

Japan’s Ice Dancers Misato Komatsubara/Tim Koleto have taken two huge steps towards their Olympic dream: They qualified a quota place for their country at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021 in Stockholm (SWE) in March by placing 19th and American-born Koleto has received Japanese citizenship. The season had its challenges for the husband-and-wife-team as they were unable to return to their training base in Montréal (CAN) because of travel restrictions. Instead, they trained at home in Japan and in Colorado Springs, where Tim is originally from.

The Rhythm Dance competition at the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating event in Krasnoyarsk (RUS) had to be interrupted and postponed following the first warm up group due to serious technical problems on Thursday.

The ISU was informed by the Chinese Figure Skating Association (CFSA) of the cancellation of the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, that was scheduled to take place from January 17 – 22, 2022 in Tianjin (CHN).
