Jae Youl Kim was elected the 12th President of the International Skating Union (ISU) in June 2022 on a platform of openness, innovation and communication. Introducing events such as World Ice Skating Day, he has been leading initiatives to reach out to new fans and markets – while safeguarding athletes and the ISU’s proud traditions. He has previously served on the ISU Council (2016-2022) and as President of the Korea Skating Union (2011-2016).

In 2023, Jae Youl was elected a Member of the International Olympic Committee at the 141st Session of the IOC. He has been an active supporter of the Olympic Movement for many years, taking part in the successful bid to host the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, and later serving as EVP of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee (POCOG). For his contributions, he received the Olympic Order from the IOC.

In addition to his roles in sports administration, he has 25 years of marketing and business development experience at multinational corporations. He is currently President of Global Strategy Group, Samsung's internal strategy unit.

He lives in Seoul, Korea, with his wife and four children.
