Suwanna Silpa-Archa was elected as International Skating Union Council member, Speed Skating for the period of 2022-2026. As a part of the Council, she is determined to run the sports with the focus on development, equality and sustainability. Suwanna was appointed as one of the ISU Development Commission Members in 2018. She was first elected as an ISU Council Member in 2019, and re-elected in 2022 during 58th ISU Ordinary Congress – Phuket 2022. Presently, she is also the Vice President of Asian Skating Union.

In addition, Suwanna has been involved in many National Olympic activities. She is currently a Senior Advisor of Thailand National Olympic Committee, Vice President of Thailand National Olympic Sub Committee on Women and Sport, and Expert Member of Thailand National Olympic Sub Committee on Charter, Rules and Regulations. Suwanna was the President of the Figure & Speed Skating Association of Thailand from 2013-2018. During her presidency, she played a crucial part in the development and growth of winter sports in Thailand as well as in neighboring SEA countries. In 2017, she successfully encouraged the inclusion of Figure Skating and Short Track Speed Skating in the Southeast Asian Games for the first time in history.

Suwanna has a PhD in Sports Sciences (Sports Management) from Kasetsart University, Thailand, a Master of Business Administration from Rangsit University, Thailand and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom. She is married to Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand and has three children who introduced her to the world of ice skating almost 20 years ago. The more she is involved, the more she is mesmerized by all the elements of the sports which result in her passion and determination to see Figure and Speed Skating successfully develop around the world.
