The 2023/24 season of the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating Series will commence at the Maurice-Richard Arena in Montreal, Canada, from 20-22 October, 2023. It is the first of an exciting double header in the Canadian city – the athletes return to the same venue the following weekend for another ISU World Cup meet. It will also be a triple-header in the region for many skaters: the ISU Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships will take place in nearby Laval from 03-05 November, 2023.

Skate America opens the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series this week in Allen, TX (USA), as per tradition and is the first of six events where international top Figure Skaters will collect points towards the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2023/24in Beijing (CHN) on December 7-10, 2023. Reigning World Champions Madison Chock/Evan Bates(USA) and “quad king” Ilia Malinin(USA) headline the field.

The International Skating Union (ISU) is proud to announce its new partnership with Dunamu, a leading fintech and blockchain company based in Seoul (KOR), acting as the “ISU Official Partner” of the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating Series for the season 2023/24, as well as “Presenting Partner” of the ISU Crystal Globe, which will crown the 2023/2024 overall Champions in Gdansk (POL) on February 16-18, 2024.

Here we go again – this is what you have been waiting for all summer: the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2023/24 kicks off next week. Leading international Figure Skaters including all four reigning World Champions – Shoma Uno (JPN), Kaori Sakamoto (JPN), Riku Miura/Ryuichi Kihara (JPN), and Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA) – as well as Olympic and World medalists, European Champions and medalists will compete for placements and points to qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2023/24 in Beijing (CHN), from December 7-10.

The second edition of the World Ice Skating Day (WISD) is about to take place on December 3, 2023, and promises to present a series of worldwide events celebrating ice skating sports in the most fun, creative and inclusive ways. This year, the International Skating Union (ISU) is glad to reconduct the “Best WISD Contest”, which will reward the organizers having demonstrated the most ingenuity in the activities and promotional actions undertaken. In 2022, the “Best WISD Awards” were bestowed upon  Indonesia (Federasi Ice Skating Indonesia), Mexico (Nuevo Léon Winter Sports Association) and the Ice Academy of Montreal (Canada) for their impressive initiatives. In particular, the Montreal Ice Academy excelled in the “Best #WISDance” category and was given the honor to create the new official choreography for the 2023 WISD edition.

Figure Skaters from Korea, Japan, Germany, Canada and Ukraine qualified for the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final during the penultimate ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating event in Gdansk (POL). Juheon Lim (KOR), Rena Uezono (JPN), Pair Skaters Ava Kemp/Yohnatan Elizarov (CAN) and Ice Dancers Darya Grimm/Michail Savitskiy (GER) took home the gold medals. Gdansk hosted the sixth ISU Junior Grand Prix event of the season.

Two-time and reigning ISU World Junior silver medallist Jia Shin (KOR) cruised into the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final with another victory during the latest ISU Junior Grand Prix event that took place in Budapest (HUN) on September 20-23, 2023. Teammate Hyungyeom Kim (KOR) and Pair Skaters Anastasiia Metelkina/Luka Berulava (GEO) will join Jia Shin in the Final to be held in Beijing (CHN) on December 07-10, 2023. Ice Dancers Iryna Pidgaina/Artem Koval (UKR) danced off with gold, but will have to wait and see if that is enough to make it to the Final.  Budapest hosted the fifth ISU Junior Grand Prix event of the season.
