Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier of Canada are on track for gold at their home Grand Prix, after finishing first in the Rhythm Dance at Skate Canada International on Friday.

Two-time ISU World Champion Kaori Sakamoto of Japan won the Women’s Short Program ahead of Korea’s Chaeyeon Kim and Rino Matsuike, also of Japan, at Skate Canada International in Vancouver, B.C. on Friday.

This partnership represents a significant milestone in the world of Short Track Speed Skating and promises to deliver an unforgettable sporting spectacle.

The second ISU Short Track World Cup event of the season takes place at the Maurice-Richard Arena, Montreal (CAN), from 27 to 29 October. This is part two of a double-header in the city, as the athletes began the season last weekend at the same venue.

The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series continues this week with Skate Canada International in Vancouver, BC. Skate Canada is the second of six events of the series in which the world’s best Figure Skaters compete and collect points towards the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2023/24 in Beijing (CHN) on December 7-10. Reigning ISU World Champion Kaori Sakamoto (JPN) and ISU World  medalists Junhwan Cha (KOR) and Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier (CAN) lead the line-up in Vancouver.

Loena Hendrickx (BEL) skated to the second ISU Grand Prix gold medal of her career as the ISU Grand Prix Skate America wrapped up in Allen, Texas (USA) Sunday with the Women’s Free Skating.

After a terrific Beijing 2022 Olympic Games – during which Shaoang Liu (CHN) secured Hungary’s first ever individual Winter Olympic gold medal, and his big brother Shaolin Sandor Liu (CHN) pocketed a bronze – Shaoang became overall World Champion.

Reigning European bronze medalists Annika Hocke/Robert Kunkel (GER) claimed their first ISU Grand Prix victory as the Pairs event concluded with the Free Skating at the ISU Grand Prix Skate America in Allen, TX (USA) Saturday.
