Youth Olympic Games champion Yuma Kagiyama of Japan clinched a narrow lead over Russia’s Andrei Mozalev, with Andrew Torgashev (USA) in third, as the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2020 opened in Tallinn (EST) with the Junior Men’s Short Program on Wednesday.

Viewers will be able to watch the ISU Figure Skating Championships either via their national broadcaster / channel and for countries where there are no broadcasters, the ISU will offer a live stream on the Skating ISU YouTube Channel.

The first combined ISU World Sprint & World Allround Speed Skating Championships took place this weekend in Hamar, Norway. Find out who won the four titles that were up for grabs with these highligh videos. 

This week, In Focus highlights the best pictures of the great ISU World Speed Skating Championships, that took place in Hamar, Norway, this weekend and combined the World Allround and Sprint Championships. Have a look. 

"A relief," said Patrick Roest (NED) after he won his third consecutive World Allround title at the Combined ISU World Sprint/Allround Championships in Hamar, Norway on Sunday. The 24-year-old Dutchman bounced back from a poor outing at the World Single Distance Championships two weeks ago in Salt Lake City, winning three of four distances on his way to the Allround title at the Vikingskipet.

Ireen Wüst (NED) won her seventh World Allround title at the Combined ISU World Sprint/Allround Championships in Hamar, Norway on Sunday. The 33-year-old is now only one Allround title short of record-holder Gunda Niemann-Stirnemann (GER). 

After Miho Takagi (JPN) had won the ladies' ISU World Sprint title, Tatsuya Shinhama (JPN) followed his compatriot's footsteps taking the men's in Hamar on Saturday. The 23-year-old sprinter was the first male skater from Japan to win the title since Akira Kuroiwa in 1987, and Japan is the first country to take both the men's and ladies' sprint titles in the same year since Korea's Lee Kyou-hyuk and Lee Sang-hwa in 2010.

"I think she's the greatest skater at this very moment, but she's a bit more modest herself" said Japan coach Johan de Wit (NED) about Miho Takagi (JPN). His pupil may be modest, but she's far from subdued when she speaks with her blades. 

On February 26, 2020 the ISU announced that the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships 2020 cannot be staged as originally foreseen on March 13-15, 2020 since, in light of the situation in South Korea, the competent authorities of the city of Seoul have closed the Mokdong Ice Rink and ordered the cancellation of all planned competitions.

Everyone expected Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) to reel in his fourth World Sprint title easily, but the Russian rocket faltered on the first day. Tatsuya Shinhama (JPN) and Laurent Dubreuil (CAN) took advantage finishing in first and second place after Day 1 of the ISU World Sprint Championships in Hamar, Norway, on Friday.

 Miho Takagi (JPN) had a formidable start to the ISU World Sprint Championships in Hamar, Norway, on Friday. Last year's runner-up won both the 500m and the 1000m, to open up a gap of 0.87 seconds over defending champion Nao Kodaira (JPN) in the second 500m race on Saturday. 

The International Skating Union (ISU), Skate Canada and Art on Ice are pleased to announce that Eli Rose, Cirque Éloize and Momento Sounds will be performing at the inaugural ISU Skating Awards. The ISU Skating Awards will take place at the conclusion of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2020 in Montreal, Quebec, at Centre Bell on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 16:00.

Sverre Lunde Pedersen already won three silver medals at the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships. This weekend the 27-year-old Norwegian hopes to redeem himself from a season full of physical discomfort, when he starts in front of a home crowd at the ISU World Speed Skating Championships in Hamar.

The World’s next generation of Figure Skaters will find out who is the best of the best at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2020 in Tallinn, Estonia (March 2 - 8). Tallinn has hosted the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships once before in 2015, and has hosted the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in 2010 as well as the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating events.
