Ragne Wiklund (NOR) was also faster than Takagi, but the 28-year-old Japanese secured the World Cup trophy with bronze in the penultimate race of the season. The Canadian women secured their fourth consecutive World Cup trophy in the Team Pursuit, wrapping up their third consecutive perfect season with a narrow win over the Netherlands and Team USA.

Davide Ghiotto (ITA) beat Patrick Roest (NED) to win his career first in the 5000m on Saturday. The Italian endurance specialist had already won the 10,000m World Cup race in Calgary earlier this season, but World Cup leader Roest had not lost a World Cup 5000m race so far this season. Earlier on Wataru Morishige (JPN) won the 500m, ahead of World Cup leader Laurent Dubreuil (CAN) and second-ranked Yuma Murakami (JPN).

Casey Dawson, Emery Lehman and Ethan Cepuran (USA) took home their second World Cup trophy in the Team Pursuit, after also having won the event last season. Team USA had to leave the gold medal in the third and final race this season to Norway, but silver was enough to keep the Olympic Champions at bay in the ranking. Kjeld Nuis became the all-time most successful Dutchman in 1500m World Cup races, while Peder Kongshaug (NOR) took his career first individual World Cup medal in second place.

Ragne Wiklund (NOR) edged out Martina Sáblíková (CZE) by 0.8s to win the 3000m in Tomaszów Mazowiecki on Friday night. With her third win in the fifth of six races, the Norwegian secured the long distance World Cup Trophy, taking an unbeatable 72-point lead over second-ranked Irene Schouten (NED), who was absent in Poland. Earlier on Friday, Kim Min Sun (KOR) maintained her undefeated streak in the 500m this World Cup season.
