Three-time World medalists Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA) danced to the top in Rhythm Dance as Skate America continued Saturday in Norwood, MA (USA).

Kao Miura (JPN) grabbed the lead in the Men’s Short Program as the ISU Grand Prix Skate America continued Friday in Norwood, MA (USA).

Reigning World Champions Alexa Knierim/Brandon Frazier (USA) took the lead as the ISU Grand Prix series kicked off with the Pairs Short Program at Skate America Friday in Norwood, MA (USA).

Reigning World Champions Kaori Sakamoto (JPN) and Alexa Knierim/Brandon Frazier (USA) start into their ISU Grand Prix season as the Series kicks off with Skate America this week in Norwood, MA (USA). Jumping phenomena Ilia Malinin (USA) is expected to impress with his famous quad Axel.

World records have tumbled in Short Track Speed Skating over the past two decades. Canada dominated early in the Men’s field before an Asian charge in the past decade, while Republic of Korea and China have dominated the Women’s fastest times. But some Canadian and Dutch greats have hit back over the past few years.

Legendary Dutch Speed Skater Sven Kramer received the most prestigious of awards at the annual ANOC Gala Awards on October 19, 2022.

Leading Figure Skaters of the world including reigning World Champion Shoma Uno (JPN), Kaori Sakamoto (JPN) and Alexa Knierim/Brandon Frazier (USA) as well as Olympic, World and European medalists are back in action at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2022/23. Exciting competition is ahead as accomplished Skaters meet the up and coming next generation.

Following six weeks of exciting competition at the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, the top six Skaters/Couples per discipline booked their tickets for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Torino (ITA), December 8-11, 2022.   

Seven Skaters/Couples grabbed the last available tickets for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final (December 08-11, 2022 in Torino/ITA) during the sixth and last event of the JGP Series in Egna-Neumarkt (ITA). Hana Yoshida (JPN), Lucas Broussard (USA) and Ice Dancers Katerina Mrazkova/Daniel Mrazek (CZE) all earned their second gold medal on the circuit and their spot at the Final in Torino (ITA).  

The ISU is constantly working on developing the Skating sports and part of that process are rule changes. Rule changes reflect the growth of the sport and help to shape it in the desired way that it remains exciting, spectacular and can be judged. Figure Skating is a discipline that highlights athletic and artistic abilities more than any other sport and it is important to keep the right balance between them.

The ISU Council met on October 9-12, 2022 and decided to provisionally allot the following ISU Figure Skating Championships

Several Skaters and Couples secured their spot in the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final at the fifth event of the series in Gdansk (POL). Pair Skaters Anastasia Golubeva/Hektor Giotopoulos Moore (AUS) and Ice Dancers Nadiia Bashynska/Peter Beaumont (CAN) celebrated back to back victories while Ami Nakai (JPN) and Takeru Amine Kataise (JPN) took their first gold medals. 

Australia’s Michael Richmond, the first official Men’s 500m and 1000m world record holder, neatly summed up just what it takes to be the very best in Short Track Speed Skating.

Mao Shimada (JPN) continued her winning ways in Gdansk and claimed her second gold medal on the circuit and her spot in the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. Lucas Broussard (USA), Pair Skaters Anastasia Golubeva/Hektor Giotopoulos Moore (AUS) and Ice Dancers Nadiia Bashynska/Peter Beaumont (CAN) celebrated the first Junior Grand Prix victory.

The ISU supported the North American International Adult Figure Skating Competition, which took place in Ottawa (CAN) on September 21 – 24, 2022.
