The ISU eLearning platform - named ISU eRink - has witnessed steady growth since it was launched back in 2019. To date it offers over 100 courses covering all ISU sports disciplines and there are more than 6000 users of the platform. ISU eRink aims to be more accessible, relevant, and comprehensive for the skating community from different linguistic backgrounds.

With this in mind and to align with the ISU Vision 2030, a pilot project is currently underway to assess whether translated eLearning content could help increase the interest of users from a non-English speaking background and enhance their learning experience.

This testing phase embraces new technology through the use of AI translation tools and is being carried out on three courses that were selected based on their relevancy for non-English speaking learners:

  1. Figure Skating Branch

  1. Speed Skating Branch

  1. General Interest

Although these courses are currently offered in English, AI tools provide real-time subtitling and translations in the five following languages based on proofreading conveniences:

  • Chinese

  • Dutch

  • Italian

  • Japanese

  • Spanish

The three courses are now available in Italian and a new language will be offered each week over the course of the next few weeks. If you wish to receive a notification when the courses are available in your language, please register here to access eRink, complete your profile and stay tuned to get the latest updates!

Even though the courses have been reviewed by industry experts, we invite all users to take the courses in their own language and provide feedback on any improvements to be made, which will help optimize eRink’s development across a variety of countries.

For any questions, please contact the eLearning team at eRink@isu.ch.
