Top sport life has not always been easy for Polish Natalia Czerwonka. Ruslan Murashov (RUS) won the men’s 500m, America’s Heather Bergsma collected her second 1000m gold of the weekend, and Dutch Kai Verbij grabbed his maiden individual World Cup gold in the men’s 1000m.

The New Year starts with a new format in Speed Skating from January 6-8. Heerenveen’s Thialf stadium will host the first ever ISU European Speed Skating Championships combining the inaugural European Sprint and traditional European Allround competitions
