Japanese Ice Dance Champions Kana Muramoto and Daisuke Takahashi that opened new doors in the sport have retired from competitive skating. The popular dance team announced their decision first on their Instagram account.

What. A. Senior debut! Jordan Stolz (USA) had the time of his life at the 2023 ISU World Speed Skating Championships in Heerenveen (NED), winning three gold medals in the 500m, 1000m and 1500m.

On September 29, 2022, Solène Mazingue (EST) suffered a fall during training at the Ice Academy of Montreal in Canada. She was rushed to the hospital and after a scan, doctors determined she needed surgery to stop internal bleeding in her head. Solène’s is a story of resilience and inspiration. She didn’t let this accident dictate the outcome of her life. Her partner Marko Gaidajenko (EST) has been with her along the way, showing her unconditional love and support.

That’s probably how we could best describe the Mixed Relay final at the KB Financial Group ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Seoul (KOR), where the first-ever World Mixed Relay title was awarded. The top six teams of the 2022/23 season are set to compete at the ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating (April 13-16, 2023) in Tokyo (JPN). Japan leads the qualifiers and is joined by the teams from the USA, Canada, Republic of Korea, Italy and France. The event features ten out of twelve of the medallists from the recent ISU World Figure Skating Championships, that took place in Saitama, Japan. The ISU World Team Trophy is a biennal event.

During a fall after a routine overtaking maneuver at a race in Heerenveen (NED) last October, France’s Tifany Huot-Marchand suffered an extremely serious injury, breaking her C5 spinal cord. This is the fracture that often leads to paralysis and quadriplegia. 

In the lead-up to the ISU World Speed Skating Championships 2023, Jutta Leerdam from Netherlands won every 1000m she competed in. At the Worlds in Thialf, Heerenveen (NED), she completed her perfect season with the World title.
