At age 18 and 20, Aleksandra Boikova/Dmitrii Kozlovskii (RUS) are so young that they are actually still junior age eligible, but they already belong to the best Pair Skating couples in the world and proved that this season and especially at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Graz (AUT).

After a superior display in the 1500m at the ISU World Cup Speed Skating race in Calgary a week before the ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships, Miho Takagi (JPN) was the outright favorite to win a career-first single distance title, but she did not. Ireen Wüst relied on her vast experience to seize her career fifth 1500m world title and her 20th world title in total, including Allround honors.

The ISU Centers of Excellence (CoE) are pleased to announce that the Speed Skating and Short Track Speed Skating “Keep Training!” sessions, featuring professionals in the domain, begin on May 11, 2020, on the Skating ISU YouTube Channel.

Following the success of the 2018 and 2019 ISU World Championships streams on the Skating ISU YouTube Channel, the International Skating Union (ISU) asked fans and followers what they wanted to see next and selected the 2017 ISU World Figure Skating Championships which will begin as of May 10, 2020.

To compete in a major event and get on to the podium on home ice is something special for every athlete. It was even more special for Korea’s Young You at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Seoul as she became the first Korean figure skater to win a medal at an ISU Championship since the legendary Olympic Champion Yuna Kim was ISU World Figure Skating Champion in 2013. It was also You’s debut at an ISU senior-level Championship.

Short Track Speed Skating fans were treated to a rare spectacle in January 2020 as the Republic of Korea’s Choi Min Jeong reduced her rivals to mere spectators at the ISU Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Montreal, Canada.

On the last 10 occasions it had been contested, Martina Sáblíková (CZE) won the Ladies’ 5000m title at the ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships, so when she clocked a world record over the distance at the ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships in Salt Lake City, it seemed only a miracle could keep her from claiming an 11th consecutive gold. That miracle went by the name of Natalya Voronina.
