Russia celebrated a gold medal sweep at the fifth ISU Junior Grand Prix event in Ljubljana (SLO). Overall Russian skaters collected four out of nine medals, the USA got three while Canada and Estonia took home one medal each.

Twenty Skaters / Couples from 16 ISU Members earned the last remaining Olympic quota places for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games at the Challenger Series and Olympic Qualifying Event Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf (GER) this weekend. Seven spots for Men, six for Women, three for Pairs and four for Ice Dance were available.

Russian Skaters dominated at their home ISU Junior Grand Prix event in Krasnoyarsk, claiming 10 out of 12 medals. Russia's GlebLutfullin, Sofia Akatieva, Ekaterina Chikmareva/MatveiIanchenkov and Ice Dancers Irina Khavronina/Dario Cirisano all claimed their first ISU Junior Grand Prix gold medals and all of them except Lutfullin debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series.

Japan’s Ice Dancers Misato Komatsubara/Tim Koleto have taken two huge steps towards their Olympic dream: They qualified a quota place for their country at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021 in Stockholm (SWE) in March by placing 19th and American-born Koleto has received Japanese citizenship. The season had its challenges for the husband-and-wife-team as they were unable to return to their training base in Montréal (CAN) because of travel restrictions. Instead, they trained at home in Japan and in Colorado Springs, where Tim is originally from.
