Just after the 2020 ISU World Speed Skating Championships, Joey Mantia (USA) sat down and noted his goals for the 2020/21 season. One of those goals was winning the 2021 World title in the Men's Mass Start. Mantia did just that at the 2021 ISU Speed Skating bubble in Heerenveen, but the road to winning the world title was not easy for the 35-year-old and you can watch his journey in This is #UpAgain A Speed Skating documentary.

Switzerland is a winter sports superpower, its all-conquering Alpine skiers in particular having a rich history in Olympic Winter Games. The nation has had success in Figure Skating and Speed Skating, but is yet to win a medal in Short Track. How can this be in a land packed with ice rinks? Thibault Metraux explains.

Kongshaug competed in his first senior international competitions and shared all of his experiences from the bubble in the documentary.

The pandemic meant that there was no such thing as a “normal” week for the world’s number one-ranked male Short Track Speed Skater – but Park Ji Won was trying to remain patient while normality slowly resumed.

It is with regret and sorrow that the ISU learned of the death of 1952 Olympic Champion Jeanette Altwegg (GBR) who passed away on June 18, 2021 at the age of 90.

Living legends Jayne Torvill/Christopher Dean (GBR), Tamara Moskvina (RUS) and Alexei Mishin (RUS) received the ISU Lifetime Achievement Award.

She had struggled with injuries and missed the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in 2019 and 2020, but then she came back strong at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm (SWE) to place fifth – the highest result of a female Single Skater from Belgium and the best result of a Belgium Skater for decades: Loena Hendrickx has shown remarkable resilience and strength.

The season 2020/21 was challenging to say the least and led to the cancellation of numerous events. Nonetheless in celebration of Figure Skating a special edition of the ISU Skating Awards will be held this year. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented and the public will be treated to an amazing show, featuring some of the greatest athletes from around the world and some exclusive interviews at the ISU Skating Awards on July 10, 2021, which will be live streamed on the Skating ISU YouTube channel.

He has earned his global fame with hits such as “You Give Me Something” and “You Make it Real” without forgetting his critically acclaimed collaboration with Nelly Furtado titled “Broken Strings”. The audience of the ISU Skating Awards will have the honor of seeing him perform “Wonderful World”, on the ISU Skating Awards on July 10, 2021, that will be Streamed on ISU Skating Awards page from 16:00 CEST.
