Francesca Lollobrigida (ITA) powered to victory in the Ladies’ Mass Start at the ISU European Single Distance Championships in Kolomna on Sunday. Her compatriot and namesake Francesca Bettrone took silver and Vanessa Herzog (AUT) grabbed the bronze medal.

Both the Russian men and the Russian ladies’ took gold in the Team Sprint events at the ISU European Single Distance Championships in Kolomna on Sunday. 

The Netherlands grabbed gold in both the men’s and ladies’ Team Pursuit events at the ISU European Single Distance Championships in Kolomna on Sunday.

Nicola Tumolero (ITA) won his first major international title when he took gold in the men’s 5000m at the European Single Distance Championships on Saturday. Alexander Rumyantsev (RUS) took silver and Marcel Bosker (NED) grabbed the bronze medal.

Esmee Visser (NED) surprised herself and the rest of Europe when she took gold in the 3000m in Kolomna on Saturday. Carlijn Achtereekte (NED) grabbed silver and Natalia Voronina (RUS) bronze.

After Yekaterina Shikhova’s gold in the ladies’ 1000m, Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) handed the crowd another home victory in the men’s 1000m at European Single Distance Championships on Saturday. Denis Yuskov (RUS) and Nico Ihle (GER) took silver and bronze.

Yekaterina Shikhova (RUS) convincingly won the ladies’ 1000m at the European Single Distance Championships on Saturday. Vanessa Herzog (AUT) came second and Marrit Leenstra (NED) third.

Denis Yuskov (RUS) won the Race of the Kings at the ISU European Single Distance Championships on Friday. With 1 minute and 44.53 seconds, Yuskov was the only one to skate under 1:45 in the 1500m. Dutchmen Thomas Krol and Koen Verweij took silver and bronze.

A superb final lap handed Lotte van Beek (NED) gold in the ladies’ 1500m at the ISU European Championships in Kolomna on Friday. Yekaterina Shikhova (RUS) and Marrit Leenstra (NED) took silver and bronze.

Ronald Mulder (NED) is the first ever European 500m Champion. Mika Poutala (FIN) and Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) took silver and bronze at the ISU European Single Distance Championships in Kolomna on Friday.

Vanessa Herzog (AUT) took the first ever European single distance title in the ladies’ 500m in Kolomna on Friday. The 22-year-old Austrian sprinter was the only lady to break the 38 second barrier, finishing in 37.69 seconds.

On January 5-7 the Moscow Region Speed Skating Centre in Kolomna will host the ISU European Speed Skating Single Distances 2018. It’s the first ever European Single Distance Championships in speed skating history. 

Norwegian speed skating enjoys a resurgence. Håvard Lorentzen and Sverre Lunde Pedersen already won World Cup races in the fresh Olympic season and Sindre Henriksen took his first podium with bronze in de 1500m in Stavanger.

Following the conclusion of the following ISU World Cup Speed Skating Competitions designated for qualification of event quota places for the XXII Olympic Winter Games 2018:

Colombia will make its Speed Skating Olympic debut at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. A record number of 27 nations will participate in Speed Skating events at the Gangneung Olympic Oval.
