Three-time and defending World Junior Champions Team Junost Junior of Russia edged national rivals and reigning World Junior silver medalist Team Crystal Ice Junior by just 0.16 points as the ISU World Junior Synchronized Championships opened Friday in Nottingham (GBR). Team Fintastic Junior finished third, giving Finland hope to return on to the World Junior podium.

As a result of the recent United States’ travel ban of 26 European countries and the state of New York’s restrictions on gatherings over concerns of the spread of the COVID-19 virus, U.S. Figure Skating and the International Skating Union (ISU) are unable to organize the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships® 2020. The event was scheduled to take place April 3-4, 2020, in Lake Placid, New York, United States.

With the uncertainty surrounding the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Skate Canada and the International Skating Union (ISU), were informed today by the Government of Quebec that they have decided to cancel the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2020. The event was scheduled to take place from March 16-22, 2020 in Montreal at Centre Bell.

The ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships® 2020 will be held in Nottingham (GBR) at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on March 13 and 14, 2020. A total of 21 teams representing 16 ISU Members countries have entered the sixth edition of the Championships, to compete for the title currently held by Team Junost Junior of Russia.
