A number of Synchronized Skating teams have been climbing in the World rankings, shaking things up both nationally and internationally. While the following teams finished off of the podium at this year’s ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships, they achieved several breakthroughs this season that reflect a growing and competitive future for the sport.

The Challenger Series Synchronized Skating will consist of up to five (5) International Competitions linked together, giving adequate opportunities for many Teams to compete at the international level and earn World Standing Points. Additionally, it will allow Teams and Officials to prepare for competing at the ISU Championships.

Team Paradise of Russia skated off with their third told title, beating defending Champions Marigold Ice Unity of Finland on their rivals’ home ice. The Helsinki Rockettes moved up from fifth place to earn the bronze.

Two-time World Champions Team Paradise of Russia took a narrow lead as the ISU World Synchronized Figure Skating Championships opened Friday in Helsinki (FIN) with the Short Program. Five-time and defending World Champions Marigold Ice Unity of Finland are not far behind in second place while Canada’s Nexxice came third.

The ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships will be held in Helsinki (FIN) April 12 and 13. A total of 24 teams representing 20 ISU Members have been entered for the Championships. The ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships have been held since 2000 and Helsinki has hosted the event in 2001 and in 2011 before.

With less than a year to go, the third edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) will take place from January 9-22, 2020 in Lausanne (SUI), dubbed as the Olympic capital in the world. The Qualification Systems for all three ISU disciplines (Figure Skating, Speed Skating and Short Track Speed Skating) have been approved by the IOC Executive Board.

The ISU has been made aware of a statement published on March 20 by All-That Sports, and subsequently by the Korea Skating Union on March 21 about an incident which happened between Ms. Mariah Bell and Ms. Eun Soo Lim, during their practice on March 20 at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships.

During its latest meeting which took place on March 17-18, 2019 in Tokyo (JPN) the ISU Council decided to provisionally allot the ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships 2020 to Debrecen (HUN) which will be held on January 24-26, 2020.

The ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships will be held in Neuchatel (SUI) March 15 and 16. A total of 23 teams representing 18 ISU Members have been entered for the fifth edition of the Championships that was a biennal event and has become annual beginning in 2017. The previous editions took place in Mississauga (CAN) in 2017, Helsinki (FIN) in 2013 and in Zagreb (CRO) in 2015 and 2018.
