We are pleased to announce that the ISU Healthy Skater seminar series is back and shall take place during the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2023 in Calgary, Canada. The theme for this edition’s seminar is "The Junior Elite Skater- Understanding Adolescent Development".

Following the decision of the 2022 ISU Congress to test a new Starting Procedure for Short Track Speed Skating (“Zero False Starts”), it was decided to conduct the tests during the ISU 4 Continents Championships and four ISU World Cup Short Track Competitions.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has published the 2023 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods (List), which came into force on January 1, 2023.

The Council has updated the ISU Infectious Disease Guideline for ISU Events, which can be found on the Clean Sport and Medical section of the website. 

The ISU Council has decided to withdraw with immediate effect the provisional allotments to the Russian Skating Union of two ISU Events for which ISU Members are invited to submit applications.

Further to ISU Communication No. 2518, the Summary of Championships applications received by the ISU for seasons 2023/24, 2024/25, 2025/26 and 2026/27 is now available.

The first Junior Short Track Challenge Competition of the season took place in Bialystok, Poland on November 18-20 and the next will be held in Torino, Italy on November 25-27.

The ISU Council met online on November 24, 2022. The following were among the decisions taken by the Council during the meeting.

The 11 recognized ISU Centers of Excellence (CoEs) have entered a new cycle. For the first time, the representatives of the Figure Skating CoEs met in person at Ice Lab in Bergamo (ITA) on the occasion of the annual ISU Centers of Excellence workshop held on October 5-7, 2022.

We are back with the eighth edition of P.L.A.Y (Pocket Learning Anti-Doping & You) for the month of October 2022 and the topic for this month is ‘Unintentional Doping’ a topic which deals with the very common mistake among athletes that is ‘Unintentional Doping’ (also known as ‘inadvertent’ or ‘accidental’ doping).

The ISU Congress 2022 accepted a proposal to establish an Overall World Classification based on an accumulation of points from all individual distances in selected Events for the purpose to determine a Combined Season Ranking and crown a Season Champion for each category, Women and Men (see Rule 286, paragraph 11).

The ISU Center of Excellence in Heerenveen is organizing a series of Short Track training camps during the season 2022/2023, offering their expertise, experience and facilities to the Short Track family of the world.

The ISU Congress 2022 in Phuket approved a Technical Rule change to move to a starting procedure with zero (0) False Starts upon positive evaluation after a testing period to be performed at ISU Events during season 2022-2023.
