Ivanie Blondin (CAN) crowned a golden weekend at the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Nur-Sultan with two wins on Sunday. After an unexpected career first 1500m World Cup victory, she joined Valérie Maltais and Isabelle Weidemann in winning the Team Pursuit to bring her gold medal haul for the weekend to three, including her triumph in Friday’s 5000m.

Patrick Roest (NED) had to dig deep, but eventually celebrated his 24th birthday in style by winning a hard-fought battle with Jorrit Bergsma (NED) to clinch the first 10,000m World Cup gold medal of his career on Day 2 in Nur-Sultan on Saturday. Danila Semerikov (RUS) came second and Graeme Fish (CAN) took his career first World Cup medal in third place. In the men's 1000m Thomas Krol, Kjeld Nuis and Kai Verbij swept the podium for the Netherlands.

Angelina Golikova (RUS) led a Russian 1-2 in the ladies' 500m to start the second day of the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Nur-Sultan on Saturday. Compatriot Daria Kachanova finished just 0.01 seconds behind her to take silver, while Nao Kodaira (JPN) had to settle for bronze. Another Russian, Olga Fatkulina, came fourth to retain her lead in the 500m World Cup ranking.

Viktor Mushtakov (RUS) won the first individual World Cup gold medal of his career to lead a Russian one-two with compatriot Ruslan Murashov in the men's 500m at the third leg of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Nur-Sultan on Friday. The Netherlands won their third consecutive Team Sprint with yet another different line-up.

Gabriel Odor (AUT) and Robin Groot (NED) are the crown prince and princess of international Speed Skating. The Austrian and the Dutch Junior both won two individual gold medals and one bronze at the second leg of the ISU Junior World Cup Speed Skating in Enschede, the Netherlands. Canada dominated the Neo-Senior competition with eight gold medals and a total of 12. American Speed Skating legend Shani Davis was in Enschede coaching the Chinese skaters, who took 3 golds, 4 silvers and 5 bronzes in the Neo-Senior category.

Canada's Laurent Dubreuil (CAN) came third to win his first individual World Cup medal in two years, and the Netherlands won the men's Team Pursuit, confidently beating silver medalists Japan.

In the 1500m the American had finished a lowly 16th, with Thomas Krol (NED) taking gold in a track record just 0.19 seconds ahead of team-mate and last week's winner Kjeld Nuis (NED).

The Russian team took advantage of a weakened Japanese line-up, edging out the Netherlands by 0.12 seconds to take gold.
