Brittany Bowe (USA) secured the 1000m World Cup and took the track record from absent Jorien Ter Mors and holds the fastest time in Norway. Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) won both the 500m and the 1000m again while Martina Sáblíková (CZE) won the 3000m and is certain of winning the World Cup.

After forty victories in long distances and Mass Start events, Martina Sáblíková (CZE) took her 41st World Cup victory in the 1500m. Sven Kramer (NED) proved to be in good shape by winning the 5000m. Jing Yu (CHN) won the ladies’ 500m in a fast time while Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) won the 1000m.

Jorien ter Mors (NED) impressed by skating the fastest lowland 1000m ever in Norway. The Chinese ladies and the Russian men dominated the 500m. Hong Zhang (CHN) won the ladies’ 500m and Pavel Kulizhnikov the men’s 500m on the first day of the first ISU World Cup in the Sørmarka Arena in Stavanger. Denis Yuskov skated the fastest 1500m.

Martina Sáblíková (CZE) won both the 1500m and the 5000m to secure her fifth career European Allround title in style on Sunday in Minsk. In the men’s tournament Sven Kramer (NED) won a record extending eighth European title. Bart Swings (BEL) grabbed silver to become the second Belgian after Dutch-born Bart Veldkamp (BEL) in 2001 (silver) to claim a medal at the European Championships.

For the first time the ISU European Speed Skating Championships will be held in the Republic of Belarus. The country’s capital and largest city Minsk will host the event on 9-10 January 2016. It could be the last time that the European Championships consist of the big combination (Men) and the small combination (Ladies). In 2017 the event will see the removal of the 10,000 m (Men) and the 5000m (Ladies), which will be replaced by the 1000m.

Heather Richardson-Bergsma (USA) won the Ladies’ 1500m and took silver in the 500m on the final day of the World Cup in Heerenveen on Saturday. She collected a total of four medals in Thialf Stadium this weekend.

Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) set a new track record and the fastest time ever on a lowland track with 1:08.16 to take gold in the Men’s 1000m in Heerenveen’s Thialf Stadium on Saturday.

Sang-Hwa Lee set a new track record at the newly built ice rink in Heerenveen’s Thialf Stadium on Friday. The Korean skated 37.59 to take gold in the 500m on the first day of the fourth World Cup event this season.

Alexis Contin (FRA) took the first ever French World Cup win in speed skating history when he crossed the line first in the Men’s Mass Start in Inzell on Sunday. Denis Yuskov (RUS) won the Men’s 1500m in a new track record of 1:44.21 on the final day of competition in the Max-Aicher-Arena.

Kjeld Nuis (NED) and Brittany Bowe (USA) rewrote the record boards in the Men’s and Ladies’ 1000m in Inzell on Saturday. The Dutchman won in 1:08.31 and the American lady took gold in 1:14.01.

After a silver medal and a fourth place in Salt Lake City Sang-Hwa Lee (KOR) hit back at the Ladies’ 500m on Friday. She took gold in a new track record of 37.33 at the Max-Aicher-Arena in Inzell.

The world record may have been expected, but the name was a surprise. Ted-Jan Bloemen (CAN) destroyed Sven Kramer and Jorrit Bergsma (NED) with 13:36.60 to beat Kramer’s WR by almost five seconds in the Men’s 10,000m.

It was the chronicle of a record foretold. Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) broke the 34 second barrier, when he set a new world record in 33.98 in the 500m on Friday. Hong Zhang (CHN) grabbed the ladies’ 500m gold in a new Chinese national record on the first day of the ISU World Cup in Salt Lake City.
